No HidroAysén!

HidroAysén is a project that contemplates the construction and operation of five hydroelectric power plants, two in Baker River and three in Pascua River, located in Aysen Region, in the south of Chile.
The complex would have an installed capacity of 2,750 MW and a capacity of 18,430 GWh of average annual energy. The investment is estimated at US$ 3.2 billion, becoming the most important energetic project studied in the country so far. According to the Hidroaysen administration, by 2020 the project could cover 21% of the Central Interconnected System (SIC) demand.[1] The construction of the project contemplates one transmission line which will transport the energy from the Aysen region to Santiago, to be injected to the SIC through a continuous high-voltage direct current line which has one submarine section between the cities of Chaitén and Puerto Montt.
